The Hague Talks

Bijlmer Bridge2Hope had an exciting opportunity this past week!  We were invited to the Hague talks to present on the subject of “Women’s Lives Bought and Sold—What is Your Part in Human Trafficking?”

I spoke on my experiences in working with victims of human trafficking for sexual purposes in Niger, West Africa, and survivors of human trafficking for sexual purposes at Bijlmer Bridge2Hope. This involved going out of my comfort zone, but it was an exciting opportunity and the talk went really well and most importantly was well received by the audience, raising lots of awareness for The Bijlmer Project! The Youtube link will be up soon, and I will put it up on the blog once it is available.  For now, here are a couple of photos from the event.

Maarten Abelman, the chief of staff of the Dutch National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings and Sexual Violence against Children, also gave an inspiring talk in regards to the crime of human trafficking for labour purposes.  We all have a part to play in stopping the horrific human trafficking crimes that are carried out against men and women on a daily basis—be aware and get involved!
